Fuel reduction burn on our Trust for Nature property in Donald, Victoria.This is a woody grassland. We had problem with weeds in this area. The burn was in conducted in Autumn '06. To show how easy it is to conduct a fuel reduction burn we had 2 kids of the ages of 10 and 11 controlling the burn. They can be seen in the background. They protected the tree you can see in the background. We try to protect the old dead trees in a reduction burn for habitat. There was adult supervision.
Did you notice that there is still green patches on the ground? This is not like a wildfire which bares the ground completely. It only burns the bio mass.
